LithicScan Beta Addendum

LithicScan Beta Testing Addendum v1.5 — UK Beta Pre-publication Review

Release candidate for director approval. Not independently reviewed by a solicitor.

Version 1.5 · Effective date: 21st October 2026

1. About this Addendum

1.1 What it is.
This Beta Testing Addendum ("Addendum") applies to your use of LithicScan during its beta. It is an agreement between you and Neurolithic Institute Ltd ("we", "us"), and it adds to the LithicScan Terms of Service ("Terms"). Words defined in the Terms have the same meaning here.

1.2 Which document applies.
If this Addendum and the Terms conflict on a matter that concerns the beta, this Addendum applies. On everything else, the Terms apply.

1.3 What it cannot do.
This Addendum does not reduce your statutory rights or your rights under data protection law. It does not change the Privacy Policy, and it does not allow us to use your data in any way the Privacy Policy does not describe.

1.4 When it ends.
This Addendum ends when the beta ends for you (clauses 8 and 9). The Terms continue if you carry on using LithicScan afterwards.

2. Taking part

2.1 By invitation.
The beta is a controlled test for a limited number of invited adults, currently about 50. We invite testers by email through Apple's TestFlight. There is no public link.

2.2 Who can take part.
To take part you must be 18 or over, live in a permitted territory and use an iPhone.

2.3 Permitted territory.
This beta is open to residents of the United Kingdom only. If you move outside the United Kingdom, please tell us, as we may need to end your participation. This restriction applies to this beta, not necessarily to the later public launch.

2.4 What we ask of testers.
We would like you to scan about three times, ideally on different days, and to answer the questions you are comfortable with. This is a request, not an obligation. Please scan only your own face and use one account (clause 2.4 of the Terms).

3. What to expect during beta

3.1 Why we explain this.
LithicScan is unfinished. The list below describes the expected beta environment and known limitations, including the interim Health Form formula and the effect of head tilt on measurements. It is intended to help you understand what the beta can and cannot do. These explanations do not remove your statutory rights or excuse failures to use reasonable care and skill.

3.2 The characteristics.

1. Incomplete features. Some features are unfinished, shown as previews using example data, or marked "coming soon". They may change, be delayed or be removed.

2. Provisional results. Reference values are still being built, so your results are provisional and will change (clause 4).

3. Errors and interruptions. You may experience crashes, failed scans, missing or incorrect results, display errors, slow performance or interruptions, especially after updates.

4. Recalculated and excluded results. Past results may be recalculated, and earlier scans may be left out of Your average after a method change.

5. Technical changes and resets. We may need to make technical changes that affect stored results (clause 5).

6. Build expiry. Each TestFlight build stops working after a set period (clause 7).

7. Limited support. We will respond to reports as soon as we reasonably can, but we cannot promise a set response time.

8. Change or end. The beta may change or end (clause 8).

9. Interim Health Form. Until the first full reference is approved, Health Form uses an interim formula and placeholder values, including a symmetry reference we know to be inaccurate. Interim scores are a rough guide only and will change.

10. Uncorrected tilt. Tilting your face up or down can change your width-to-height ratio. LithicScan limits tilt during capture but does not yet correct for it.

3.3 What this does not cover.
The descriptions above do not mean that you waive rights relating to unrelated defects, crashes, incorrect results arising from other faults, or failures to use reasonable care and skill. Nothing in this section removes statutory rights or affects the matters listed in clause 19.5 of the Terms.

4. Provisional references and changing results

4.1 References are being built now.
LithicScan’s reference values are being developed from qualifying scans during the beta. Until they are ready, Health Form uses an interim formula and placeholder values. Before Population Comparison is available (once at least 20 people qualify and Neurolithic has approved its centre), the results area displays “Available soon” and the human story timeline may show clearly labelled preview/example data.

4.2 Expect your results to move.
The first fuller Health Form reference is calculated once at least 50 qualifying people, including at least 25 of each sex, have scanned, but it takes effect only after Neurolithic reviews and approves it. Your Health Form score and labels may then change. Historical scans can be recalculated when a new approved reference takes effect, while scans taken under an earlier capture method may remain visible but faded and excluded from Your average.

4.3 Methods change too.
During the beta we may change capture checks, how photos are combined, or how measurements such as symmetry are calculated. Scans taken under an earlier method may be left out of Your average and shown faded in Scan History, and Your average may restart.

4.4 Treat every beta result as provisional.
The app may not label every result as provisional, but all beta results are. Clause 8 of the Terms also applies.

5. Data resets and technical changes

5.1 What we may need to do.
During the beta we may need to make technical changes that affect stored results. Examples are restarting Your average, leaving earlier scans out of averages or reference calculations, recalculating results, moving to a new version of the questions (which resets the starting point of your breathing chart), or correcting data affected by an error.

5.2 Limits.
We make these changes only where reasonably necessary to fix errors, improve accuracy or keep LithicScan working. We will not delete your account, scans or answers as part of such a change unless that is necessary, and we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can.

5.3 Your chance to keep a copy.
If a change would delete data you might want to keep, we will tell you beforehand where reasonably possible, so that you can ask for a copy.

5.4 The Privacy Policy still applies.
Any deletion follows the Privacy Policy. Beta status never allows us to use your personal data in a way the Privacy Policy does not describe.

6. Feedback

6.1 How to send it.
You can send feedback through TestFlight, including screenshots and crash reports, or by email to info@neurolithicinstitute.com. Apple passes TestFlight feedback and crash reports to us; Apple's own terms and privacy policy apply to what Apple collects.

6.2 What applies.
Clause 12 of the Terms applies to your feedback. Screenshots may show your results or personal details, so check them before you send them.

6.3 A request about unreleased features.
We would appreciate it if you did not publish screenshots or reviews of unreleased features while the beta runs. This is a request, not an obligation. You are always free to share your own results with share cards and to talk about your experience.

6.4 Confidential beta materials.
During the beta we may give you access to non-public source code, internal documentation, development plans, unreleased scoring methods, private datasets or technical information specifically marked confidential, or clearly identified to you as confidential when disclosed ("Confidential Beta Materials"). You must not disclose, publish or use those materials for purposes unrelated to your authorised evaluation of LithicScan without our prior written permission. This obligation applies only to information you receive through your participation in the beta that qualifies as Confidential Beta Materials.

6.5 Exceptions.
Confidential Beta Materials do not include information that is publicly available without a breach by you, that you already lawfully knew without an obligation of confidence, that you independently develop without using those materials, or that you lawfully receive from someone entitled to disclose it. You may disclose information where required or protected by law, including to legal or professional advisers, law enforcement, regulators or for protected reporting. Nothing in this Addendum prevents you discussing your own measurements and results, making a genuine complaint, leaving an honest review of your experience or exercising your consumer or data-protection rights.

6.6 Duration.
Your duty not to disclose or misuse Confidential Beta Materials continues after your participation ends only while those materials remain non-public and confidential, and only to the extent permitted by applicable law. We may ask you to delete confidential documents we supplied when testing ends, but this does not affect records you have a legal right to retain.

7. TestFlight builds

7.1 Apple's terms.
Apple's TestFlight terms apply to your use of TestFlight. TestFlight may show Lee Glanville as the developer; clause 1.7 of the Terms explains why.

7.2 Builds expire.
Each beta build expires 90 days after we upload it. We aim to provide a new build before the current one expires, but cannot guarantee it. When a build has expired, you cannot open LithicScan until you install a newer build. Build expiry does not affect your account or the data stored on our servers.

7.3 Updates.
Some updates arrive automatically in the background, and others need a new build installed through TestFlight. After an update, please follow any instructions we send, such as fully closing and reopening the app.

7.4 Apple's review.
Apple reviews the first build of each version before external testers can install it, and may delay or refuse a build.

8. How long the beta lasts

8.1 No fixed end date.
We currently have no fixed end date. The beta may continue until the public launch or end earlier.

8.2 Ending the beta.
We may end the beta for everyone, or for some testers, for example when a test phase finishes or eligibility changes. We will give you at least 30 days' notice where reasonably possible, unless clause 16 of the Terms applies.

8.3 What happens next.
When the beta ends for you, this Addendum ends. Clause 10 explains what happens to your account at public launch. If the beta ends for you before then, or no public version is available to you, we will tell you whether your account will be kept or closed, and you can ask for a copy of your data first.

9. Leaving the beta

9.1 Any time, free.
You can leave the beta at any time, free of charge.

9.2 Leaving and deleting your data.
You may stop participating in testing at any time. To close your account and request deletion of your data, use Profile → Delete account or contact us at info@neurolithicinstitute.com. Account deletion works as clause 17 of the Terms describes.

9.3 Removing the app is not enough.
Stopping using LithicScan, deleting the app or leaving TestFlight does not close your account. Tell us at info@neurolithicinstitute.com if you want it closed.

9.4 Staying but changing your choices.
You can withdraw any separate consent without leaving the beta (clause 18 of the Terms).

10. Your account and data at public launch

10.1 Carrying over.
We have not yet decided whether beta accounts and data will carry over to the public version. We will tell you our decision before any transition and explain the choices available to you.

10.2 We will tell you first.
At least 30 days before public launch, we will tell you what will happen to your account and data and what the public version will ask of you. If accounts carry over, we will ask you to accept the terms that apply then; if you don't accept them, you can close your account free of charge. We will ask for any new consent the law requires.

10.3 Beta data and references.
If your account carries over, your beta scans may continue to contribute to reference values in line with your choices and the Privacy Policy. If it does not, your data is deleted as clause 17 of the Terms describes. Combined results already calculated that cannot identify anyone are not recalculated.

11. No guarantee of continued free access

11.1 The beta is free.
We will not charge you anything during the beta, and nothing in the beta can lead to a charge without your choosing it.

11.2 No promise of free access later.
After the beta, LithicScan may include paid features or subscriptions. Taking part in the beta does not entitle you to free or discounted access later, unless we tell you otherwise in writing.

11.3 Prices before payment.
Before you pay for anything, we will tell you the price and the terms that apply, and you will pay only if you choose to.

12. Privacy and your separate choices

12.1 The Privacy Policy applies.
The Privacy Policy applies to the beta in the same way as to the rest of LithicScan. Beta status does not change how we handle your data.

12.2 Acceptance is not consent.
Accepting this Addendum, including the beta characteristics in clause 3, is not consent to research, to the dental and surgical history questions, to any use of your ancestry, to the world figures or to promotional emails. These remain separate choices (clause 18 of the Terms).

12.3 Your beta data.
As the Privacy Policy describes, beta testers' combined measurements help build LithicScan's reference values. Your data is used for optional research only if you agree.

13. Your rights and our responsibility

13.1 The Terms apply.
Clauses 19 to 21 of the Terms apply to the beta. This Addendum does not exclude or limit our liability any further than the Terms do.

13.2 Beta characteristics.
The known measurement limitations in clause 3.2 (items 9 and 10) are disclosed to explain how the beta currently works. Testers are not asked to accept those limitations through a separate checkbox, and disclosure alone does not waive statutory rights or automatically establish an agreed deviation from any applicable conformity requirements. General warnings about errors or interruptions are not exclusions of liability or blanket waivers of consumer rights. We remain responsible for failures to use reasonable care and skill and the matters listed in clause 19.5 of the Terms.

13.3 Your statutory rights.
Your statutory rights, including your right to end this agreement at any time and any right to withdraw, are not affected.
